HOPE WHERE THERE'S DESPAIR
The mission of Hold On Be Strong Org Inc. is to bridge the divide between police departments and the local Black communities they serve, thereby providing hope where there's despair.
After the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and so many others throughout the years, Hold On Be Strong Org Inc. was founded in 2020 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. We are focused on bridging the gap in police and community relations.
Communicate the issues that face both law enforcement personnel and members of the communities they serve, while recognizing and acknowledging these issues as fact or truth.
Start the conversation to address issues that exist. Clearly stating the issues and viewpoints will further generate thoughtful ways of talking about differences of opinion. Face-to-face engagements are suggested.
Be careful to listen to what another person believes. Be committed to learning, unlearning, and owning our mistakes as part of a path forward to a resolution.
Begin to change the “us” versus “them” mentality. Reconnecting law enforcement and community constituents depends largely on the perceptions, cooperation and trust on both sides. Hold On Be Strong aims to promote the philosophy of forming organizational partnerships and problem-solving techniques between law enforcement personnel and the community. Preconceived biases, prejudice and hatred have no place in our fight to achieve respect, equality and justice; it only stalls the progress to form a more effective and long-lasting union between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
